Slovenia has one great secret – it is so small everything is close! At first, I was trying to find an accommodation close to every destination we planned to visit, but eventually, I just gave up. I found the studio I absolutely loved in Visoko near Kranj and that was when I started to check up the distances a little bit more.
Half an hour to Bled? Half an hour to Ljubljana? An hour away from Logar Valley? You got it. You can book a wonderful room or apartment in a countryside and pay much less than you would pay in the city or right next to the lake. If you are travelling in a couple, in Slovenia for less than 30€ per person per night you can enjoy tastefully decorated rooms in small and intimate guesthouses or even have a whole studio or apartment for yourself.
Just as an added value, many of this accommodations are pet-friendly, if you wish to bring your furry friend along!
Staying around Logar Valley
If you are planning to visit a wonderful Logar Valley, there are several towns and villages close by – like Luče, Solčava or Robanov kot. We booked a room in Solčava and it was a great choice. Farmhouse Štiftar had everything we were looking for. The rooms were cute, surroundings stunning and parking was free. Also, the town of Solčava looked so peaceful, with beautiful nature around it.
If you wish to stay in the other town, Luče, you should definitely check out Guesthouse S. Here you can use free bikes, park your car or just enjoy the small town centre. Being comfortably situated in the warmth of your room, you can admire the mountains from your window.
If you want to be right at the centre of Logar Valley, you can book in Tourist farm Ojstrica. Nothing can beat this location – they are right in the heart of the valley and a perfect spot to start your hike. They also have a great restaurant (try the cold meats and cheese platter!). You can dine enjoying the superb views of the valley and surrounding mountains.
Staying around Kranj and Kamnik
Kranj and Kamnik are charming cities themselves, but also a great base to explore nearby mountains like Velika Planina, Kamniška Bistrica or even Jezersko region. If you wish to ride a bit more (around 30 minutes only) you can even pay a visit to Bled or Ljubljana from here.
We fell in love and instantly booked the most beautiful and modern studio at PR’ FIK Apartments in Visoko near Kranj. I am not exaggerating when I say it was the best-designed budget accommodation I’ve ever seen! We had a nice-sized studio with the prettiest bathroom ever seen, huge windows and the biggest yard. The river was literally 30 meters away and we were like in heaven. Being only 10 minutes drive from Kranj and 30 minutes from Bled, we had it all. (YES, we adored this place, if you did not notice.)
If you wish to stay bit closer to the mountains, you could book Guest house Repnik or Apartment nr. 16 in Kamnik. We paid a brief visit to this cute city, my grandmother’s hometown, and we noticed it was great for relaxation and hiking.
Staying around Bled and Bohinj
Of all places we visited in Slovenia, Bled and Bohinj were by the far most expensive locations. The prices of accommodation are, of course, in the direct correlation. We were struggling to find an affordable and nicely decorated pet-friendly places, what was not a case in other parts of the country.
In the end, we booked a studio in Apartments Mlin in Jereka near Bohinj. The apartment and the host were great, everything was clean and bed was very comfy. We especially loved chilling out on the terrace, while watching the sunset, drinking wine and enjoying the dessert our host made for us. But be aware, Mlin is good 20 minutes ride away from the lake and you would definitely need a car.
If you are looking forward staying in Bled, you could book Bled Apartments in the city of Bled. Their prices are often higher, but in autumn or spring you can find a studio under 60€. Staying here, you will be only 15 minutes walking distance from the lake. For an awesome price, right?
